  • Appointments w/ legislators (Lauren) - Appts w/ Oaks & Funke's aide. Securing appts w/other legislators including Pam Helming (new senator). Watch for email from Lauren.
  • Advocacy Day - Friends Bus donations (Jeanne) - letter sent to Friends' Groups and have already received 3 donations (GPL, PAL, WAR) toward bus to NYLA Advocacy Day in Albany Mar 1
  • Summer Reading Manual (Pat) - is online. User needs to create an account to get started. 2017 theme is Build a Better World
  • Youth Yak after System Meeting (Pat) - building rockets
  • Free items in small meeting room (Heidi)
  • Deep Freeze (Bob) - upgrade soon. Need to address conflict w/ Windows Anniversary issue. PLS will schedule fix soon
  • Ninite Pro (Bob) - PLS evaluating with expected roll out beginning of 2017. One license for all computers. One computer set up to automate the whole update process.
  • Tech Grant (Adam) - Deadline Nov 28! Easy grant to apply for. Call Adam if you have questions. Grant to help libraries add a new technology-based service. Great chance to take a risk!
  • Mystery Shopper program (Lindsay) - Call by Tues, Nov 21 to be included in Round 2 grant.
  • Access Cards (Lindsay)
  • Closed Dates for 2017!
    • Enter at least 6 weeks before first 2017 holiday
    • Changes in the display of closed dates with evergreen 2.10, and also a known display bug

  • Author Visit, book about Eleanor & Alice Roosevelt (Hope) - Author (a friend of Hope's from school) looking to schedule visits in the Spring. Call Hope if you are interested in setting up a program.

Sharing

  • Sodus - transforming a room at the library for archival storage. Received Rochester Area grant $5K, Friends matched the grant, and received generous patron donation of $20K
  • Perry - 2017 changing hours to increase to 46 hours/wk. Library received matching grant to complete digitization project of the Perry Herald
  • Phelps - will increase library hours to be open more mornings
  • Arcade - has a very successful Cookbook Club program. Started in Feb with 4 participants and in Nov were up to 18. Good food and fun!
  • Naples - worked with local historical society, and with help from PLS's Ron Kirsop and Bob Potter from FLCC, an audio tour of Naples was produced
  • Stevens (Attica) - worked with historical society and an Oklahoma company OCI (Oklahoma Correctional Industries) to digitize yearbooks to CDs and library has a copy. Can search by date.

  • Mount Morris - Friends Group held successful silent auction and raised $3K. Upcoming project is to host a Library Ball.
  • The libraries in the Letchworth School District (NUN, CAS, BLI, SS) agreed to override the tax cap for the first time.
  • Successful Play Space Grant purchases: PAL alphabet bags, and PHE installing 4 tactile play stations
  • Livonia - concrete walls for the new library is being poured today! Check out FB: https://www.facebook.com/LivoniaPublicLibrary
  • Red Jacket - applications being accepted for Youth Services position. Congratulations extended to Amy on her new job.
  • Wood (Canandaigua) - launching WiFi HotSpot loan program. Used Mobile Beacon Company. Library partnered w/ schools to select first users.
    Upcoming Fund Raiser, Dec 2: Pursapalooza. Purses for purchase, live music, wine & desserts. Donated purses, including purses from area celebrities

Program: Using Data for Strong Collections

Lindsay will discuss the reports PLS currently offers that relate to collection management and analysis, demonstrate some new reports she is working on, and discuss the types of information we get out of Evergreen about our collections.

The program will include a panel of PLS members discussing practical applications of collection reports.
