Small Libraries Summer Symposium

Call for Proposals

The Pioneer Library System invites conference program proposals for a Small Libraries Summer Symposium scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Pioneer Library System headquarters in Canandaigua, New York.

This one-day conference will target small libraries by empowering staff to improve operations, form community partnerships, and meet the changing needs of their users.

The call for program proposals opens Monday, December 6, 2021. We are looking for speakers from small libraries or who directly work with small libraries (defined as having a chartered service area below 25,000 people).

Proposals should be for a one-hour session that includes time for Q&A. Possible topics include:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts
  • Unique special collections or services
  • Construction, remodeling, and renovation successes or failures
  • Funding propositions (259 or 414)
  • Improved workflows
  • Staff development
  • Advocacy and awareness
  • Community partnerships
