Magazine Hold Requests

Magazine holds must be placed at the Copy level. If a Title hold is place, any random issue will be captured to fill the hold. Staff must use the staff client to place a copy level hold.

When any copy attached to a magazine title record has the Circulation Modifier "Default", patrons will be able to place Title holds via the OPAC. For this reason, all magazine copy records should be created with the Circulation Modifier "Magazine" or "New Magazine".

Filling magazine holds is a local library decision. If your library does not fulfill holds on magazine issues, set the Holdable? Item Attribute on magazine copy records to "No". This will insert a "Not Holdable" indication in the magazine record Copies list.

If a magazine hold appears on your pull list but your library does not fill magazine holds, alert the PickupLibrary so that they can cancel the hold and follow up with the requesting patron.
