Program: Cultural Humility

Cultural humility is a humble and respectful attitude toward individuals of other cultures that pushes us to challenge our own cultural biases, realize we cannot possibly know everything about other cultures, and approach learning about other cultures as a lifelong goal and process. This also includes race, gender, sexual identity and expression, religion, and socio-economic status.
During this training, Earl Greene will help us understand the concept of cultural humility and how we can recognize and continue to change the inequities that exist both in our personal and professional lives.

Culture Humility Requires:
  1. committing to a life-long self-evaluation and critique
  2. developing self-awareness and respect for differences
  3. redressing power imbalances
  4. developing mutually beneficial partnerships with communities
"My identity is rooted in my history…and I get to say who I am!"
