- Advocacy Day - February 25, 2015 (Lauren): 45 registered so far; challenge everyone to write a letter to your legislators and call their Albany office on Feb 25
- Library Statistics (Lauren) - use statistics in tandem with as many personal anecdotes as possible; highlight shining stars, i.e. collaboration with other organizations; attendance increase for programs, storyhour, meeting room use, etc.
Send an email to Lauren with your library's shining stars and Lauren will share at legislator visits.
- Gay Alliance (Evelyn Bailey) - grant initiative: 90 min free screening of documentary film to libraries (see program materials below)

"Our Community Reads" - a foundational approach to early literacy based in simplicity, rich exposure to text, and an inclusive philosophy.
Presenters: Derek Poole, Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County;
Jay Roscup, Grants Administrator Eastern Wayne County Schools;
Krystina Hardter & Caitlin Simonse, Newark Public Library.
- Derek will share his heart and passion for this work and "How it all began..."
- "Resources & Program Structure - Jay will provide a backdrop of data, coalition building, inclusion of Evidenced Based Programs, and formulation of a model that can be shared.
- The work and it's expansion" - model development, current progress and projects, and a vision for the future
- "Our Community Reads" Newark - Krystina and Caitlin. The development of a team of volunteers and growth in their programs; and using the Our Community Reads model in Newark.
- Q & A - Specific handouts and templates will be provided and attendees will have time to consider practical implications in their own local practice.
