Notes from Meeting

  • Please make sure when buying for your week, you save the cart using this format "ct_yourinitials_date."

  • We ask that when it is your turn to buy for the week, please place your order on Friday of that week. For example, you can create a cart and add to it throughout the week, but submit your cart for purchase on Friday of that week. This was a suggestion we heard at digipalooza. That way we have new content on Friday's every week, since typically demand is higher for downloads over the weekend.
  • If you can not buy during your assigned week, please let Pat know.
  • We need to look at, for the future, the possibility of a new funding model. Example: flat rate amount, then divide by service population.
  • Need to continue reports on usage analysis (available from overdrive)
  • PLS will participate in the "Big Read program." This year's book is a children's book "Fancy Nancy." Pat to send out information and promo materials.
  • Cheryl asked about having music as part of our offerings. (Overdrive can provide music and videos as well). No plans at this time due to limited funding.
  • Overdrive does have on the horizon, streaming video content. There was interest in this among members. We will stay on top of this.
  • Disney books need to be marketed and promoted. Pat to provide promo materials.
  • Will continue with the 25 "always available" audio titles. They are being used.
  • Wendy provided chart and statistics for non-fiction titles that are being requested. It is her sense that the same person is requesting titles. She is buying requested titles, but this is leaving no money for other purchases. Committee suggested Wendy use her discretion when buying for a certain category (religion for example) so we don't overload in any particular subject area.
