OWWL2go Collection Team Meeting, September 21, 2012

Summary

It was agreed to continue the current arrangement for purchasing OWWL2go content through the end of the year. The schedule and areas of focus are detailed below. There was general agreement about considering restricting OWWL2go to Pioneer service area residents only, with the possibility of a special out-of-system card for residents of a service area that do not fall within the geographic boundaries of Pioneer. There was discussion about the possibility of restricting access to patrons of member libraries that do not contribute to the collection development pool, or purchase content of their own. It was agreed that any changes in access will require advance and sufficient notice.

Betsy reported that a patron had suggested adding a grouping for New York Times bestsellers. OverDrive reported that this can be done, as illustrated in the White Plains implementation, and the team asked that it be pursued.

Weekly Purchase Guidelines

• SELECTORS
  • Selectors will purchase a combination of general popular titles and titles in their area of focus (perhaps 75/25% splits)
  • Weekly expenditure allotments in the $750-$1,000 range
• CENTRAL LIBRARY / GPL
  • Review and purchase titles from the weekly RTL Manager Recommendations list
  • Review and purchase titles from the weekly Holds Trigger [Holds Manager] list
  • Weekly expenditure allotments in the $250-$500 range
