OWWL Barcodes
Each library has a unique barcode prefix, as detailed in the table below.
The prefixes are preceded by a lead digit which indicate Item ID or User ID, as well as barcode symbology.
- Lead digits 3 (Codabar) or 5 (Code 39) are used for item IDs

is a Marion Codabar item ID

is an Arcade Code 39 item ID
- Lead digit 2 is used for borrower cards.
- i.e.:
2 2125 0000 0001 C
is the beginning of a Newark user ID
Following the prefixes are the actual identifying numbers. The first digit of these numbers differentiate between cards and keytags.
- Cards start with a 2:
- ---- 20000001C
- Symbology: Extended Code 39
- Keytags start with a 3:
- ---- 30000250 C
- Symbology: Interleaved 2 of 5
- Combo cards / keytags start with a 4
- Special issue children's cards start with a 5
Older identifying numbers may start with a 0 or 1.
