Concept
Libraries/PLS host a program where community members can digitize their own family documents, photographs, etc., using library/PLS equipment and expertise.
Objectives:
- learn basic preservation tips, physical and digitial
- digitize their documents and have digital copies to keep
- learn tips for sharing digital files with family/friends
- Contribute digital files to NY Heritage, etc.
- Foster community involvement with the library (and possibly local historical society)
Ideas:
- Have OWWL branded flashdrives available
- Ask Adam/Bob if the drives available as marketing items are sufficient for images, etc.
- Other swag?
- Partner with historical society volunteers
- Community repository, other than NYH? Interactive site that would allow community to create/build stories, genealogies, etc?
- Create info packets, with tips, recommendations, etc
- Create release forms for publishing materials to NYH, elsewhere
- Purchase additional scanner?
