Library Space Planning

Guest speakers:
Dr. Larry Nesbit, Building Consultant, Brodart Contract Furniture, Yvonne Derr, Brodart Educational Furnishings and Kira Banfill, Marketing Project Coordinator

This presentation will challenge some long held and traditional philosophies on how libraries are designed. Today, spaces must attract users to the building, rather than only house materials. One of the most effective ways to do this is to take into consideration the following:

• color
• arrangement, including lighting/windows
• types of furniture/carpet selected
• textures, smell, and the use of music.

Costs of implementing ideas presented will be shared with audience members, with some being no or low cost. The presentation will be participant centered and include fun role playing exercises.
