Shared Google login for staff

Cyndi at Wood mentioned that Wood staff use a generic Google Account/Gmail to share setings etc. She asked if this would work to streamline setting up Chrome browser settings for all staff workstations. Theoretically, YES! I haven;t tested this, but encourgage Cyndi and Wood colleagues to try it. I will also try on the PLS training laptops. I do recommend having a generic Google Account specifically for staff/Evergreen use, not anything tied to an individual's Google account.

Truncate number of characters printed

For situations when libraries want to print only a part of a string - such as the first few characters of a patron's last name on a hold slip, or the lasy digits of a barcode - this can be done using a "limit" function in the evergreen data. Instructions and code examples have been added to the Print Templates page: Evergreen Configuration Print Templates

Shrinking body text size

Sue at HPL reports that on the Hold Shelf Slip the body text of the slip print very small when the font size of the patron name is big and the name is long. I have duplicated the issue, but I am not sure what is causing it. I will continue to investigate.

Changing the font

Specific fonts can be selected for your receipts, although PLS recommends keeping fonts simple. Example code, and a link to font families, int he Print Templates page: Evergreen Configuration Print Templates
