New Business

  • 1-week overdue email notification
  • Examine strategies, types of materials to promote improvements in IT infrastructure
  • Need for SMS patron notification (requested during meeting)
  • BookLetters usage and value (introduced during meeting).

Actions

  • Jim will:
    • investigate implementation of SMS notifications in Evergreen
    • initiate email notification of patrons with expired accounts
    • compile directors' suggestions for promotional IT infrastructure pamphlet
    • notify age-protect test sites that have applied age-protect incorrectly.
  • Betsy will remove PLS generated BookLetter lists that are outdated.
  • Anna will attempt to find another candidate library to participate in the age-protect beta-test
    • DAN and MM

Outcomes

  • Age-protection for Adult Fiction and Music CDs was implemented by five of the participating beta-testers. GPL will begin applying it as needed. Audiobooks were dropped from the age-protect beta test.
  • A retrospective notification of patrons with expired accounts was granted for the past three years in a staggered process. PLS plans to notify patrons who have used Evergreen's patron card authentication for services such as OWWL2Go or wireless network access first, followed by three separate batches for those whose cards expired in 2012, 2011, and 2010, in that order.
  • The one-week overdue email notification was unanimously accepted.
  • The committee requested SMS (texting) notifcation capabilities through Evergreen.
