Library Reopening Toolkit

In order to assist with the decision-making and planning libraries must do prior to and during reopening, PLS has assembled the following toolkit. These resources can service as guidance for Directors and Trustees to reopen with the health and safety of library staff and community members as the top priority.

Reopening Outline

Click here to acces the Library Reopening Outline (click here for the Word Doc). This template can be easily adapted by individual libraries and is consistent with the latest information from the CDC, OSHA, NYS Department of Health, Executive Orders related to NY Pause, all reopening mandates in NY Forward, and the Pioneer Library System Reopening Plan.

Policies & Procedures

These templates may help libraries develop or refine policies and procedures related to emergency and disaster planning. Libraries also should develop procedures and logs for Cleaning/Disinfecting and Contact Tracing at the local level.

Supplies & Equipment

The following vendors may have PPE, disinfecting solutions, and other supplies to help your library implement new cleaning, materials handling, and social distancing procedures.

Communications

  • Click here to access flyers and signage that can be used to alert patrons to new policies, procedures, and work flow in and around the library. Flyers/signage are available as PDF and PNG files.

Additional Resources

These links may provide additional information or guidance on PPE; cleaning and disinfecting materials, equipment, and facilities; and labor considerations during a public health crisis.
